What we've been up to in 2015!

We have been really busy the last couple of months!  The students are working hard and making progress.

1st grade-- We did a unit on community helpers and we just finished our unit on How-To writing.  The students have been reading about how to do different things and writing about them too.

2nd grade--We learned about verbs, nouns and adjectives.  We worked in reading groups and did a science experiment where we dyed wool and cotton using berries.  Now, we're just finishing up our lab reports.

3rd grade--We are finishing our unit on plants.  We experimented with celery to see how stems work. We also did an experiment with seeds.  We are finishing up our photosynthesis projects.

4th grade--We studied the US regions, acid rain and historical fiction.  We are finishing up our projects on Buttons for General Washington and presenting them.

I hope you have a wonderful winter break and get to enjoy some time with your amazing children! Remember: No school Friday, December 18th.  See you Monday, January 4th, 2016!

In the classroom...

1st gr-- We have been learning about different communities.  We drew a picture of our community, labeled it and wrote about it.  We've been working hard!

2nd gr-- We are also learning about communities--urban, suburban and rural.  The students had to write about which community they want to live in and why.  The students are learning about adjectives, nouns and verbs too.

3rd gr--  Do you know the difference between goods and services?  We do!  Third graders have been exploring goods and services in urban and rural communities.

4th gr-- Regions of the U. S. and natural resources are our topics of study.  We will be researching a region and creating a project of our choice to present it.
